Saturday is an overnight cruise to Forks to see Hurricane Ridge, vampires, and the rain forest. From the south end we will meet at the I5 weigh station just south of highway 18 at 9:00 am. If you live in Seattle or further north a ferry would be the shortest route. For those that take that route we will have a second meeting place at Fat Smity’s parking lot around 10:30. Fat Smity’s is at the intersection of highway 101 and highway 20, 282624 US 101, Port Townsend.
After an hour drive we will be at Hurricane Ridge for lunch. There is a restaurant at the visitors center or bring a picnic lunch, expect to pay around $10.00 for state park entrance. We will spend a couple hours checking out the area and then on to Forks. To see if you are ready to survive a night in Forks a vampire quiz will be handed out to be returned before leaving, prizes will be awarded for the most correct answers. If you want to make a day trip of it you could head home from Hurricane Ridge.
Leaving Hurricane ridge after a scenic hour plus drive we will be in Forks. We have a group of rooms under the Camaro club at the Pacific Inn Motel. Call 1-800-235-7344 to make a reservation, it is around $105.00 for Saturday night. I hear the motel is full but you could probably find a room nearby. We will find a place for dinner once we get there. Time and weather permitting we could head to the beach to check out the sunset.
Sunday after breakfast it is 45 minutes south to check out the rain forest. After the slugs and ferns it is time to head home. I plan to continue down 101, through Aberdeen and back to Seattle but alternate routes could be taken.
Please send an email to Larry at lbdz28@comcast.net so I know you are coming.
Hope to see you all at both events.
